In an effort to provide healthcare for more citizens, a comprehensive healthcare reform law was enacted in March 2010 – the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare. The federal government established a service to help people shop for and enroll in so-called affordable health insurance by creating and operating the entity known as the Marketplace. The State of New York calls its Marketplace NYSOH (New York State of Health), and one place to do one-stop shopping for NYOSH and other healthcare plans is through the HealthFirst login.
What Is HealthFirst?
HealthFirst is a not-for-profit managed care organization sponsored by city, state, and federally-recognized healthcare providers. This means that when insurance seekers go to the HealthFirst login, they will be able to shop for Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, and other federally-funded health plans. HealthFirst Leaf Plans and other qualified health plans are offered on New York’s Marketplace (NYOSH), and they are also available at the HealthFirst login. HealthFirst Pro, Pro Plus, and Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO) plans are included for individuals and small businesses.
How Does Obamacare Relate To The HealthFirst Login?
The Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, has three goals. The law is intended to make health insurance available to more people by allowing subsidies known as premium tax credits, meant to lower the costs for households with incomes between 100% and 40% of the federal poverty level; it does so by way of a convenient location, the HealthFirst login.

HealthFirst Leaf Plans
These plans are for individuals and families and are available through NYOSH; these correspond to the Marketplace Metal Level Plans. Platinum Leaf, Gold Leaf, Silver Leaf, and the Green Leaf Catastrophic Plan are all delineated and waiting for scrutiny by the insurance seeker.
HealthFirst Essential Plans
These plans offer low-cost coverage for essential health benefits and vision and dental options.
These are actually the Medicare Advantage Plan options. Medicare Advantage plans are also referred to as Part C. They are offered by private companies that are approved by Medicare. Medicare Advantage plans offer additional benefits but have some additional limitations.
Medicaid Managed Care
This plan is sponsored by the State of New York for those who are eligible for Medicaid.
Managed Long-Term Care Plan
Mainly for the Medicare and Medicaid-eligible, these plans are meant for seniors who need long-term health services.
Health First Absolute Care FIDA Plan
FIDA stands for Fully Integrated Duals Advantage and is designed for those beneficiaries over age 21 who qualify for Medicare and Medicaid and require long-term, community, or custodial care and who reside in nursing homes.
Child Health Plus
This plan is sponsored by the State of New York and is designed for individuals under the age of 19.
Personal Wellness Plan
This plan is a Health and Recovery Plan (HARP), designed to provide more access to community support programs including behavioral health treatment. This plan is sponsored by the State of New York and covers the same benefits and services as Medicaid while offering the extra services at no additional cost.
Health First Pro And Pro Plus PPO Plans
These plans are for small businesses looking for comprehensive benefits.

HealthFirst Login And Registration
Becoming a member starts by typing in a ZIP Code, income, and identifying whether the insurance seeker is an individual, a family, or a small business organization. As well, HealthFirst will need to know if individuals/families are seeking Medicare plans. Typing in the ZIP Code 10003, the birthdate 01/01/1958, specifying a $$$ yearly income and indicating that insurance and dental and vision coverage is needed, results in the following information:
Clicking on the link to view details will lead the insurance seeker to a summary table that reviews co-pays. In order to log in, one must have a HealthFirst member ID. A member ID will not be available until a plan is selected and arrangements for payment, if any, are made. Once the HealthFirst member ID is typed in, the first and last name, the date of birth, and ZIP Code will be required before the member can go forth and take care of business.
New York is indeed a lucky state. As of June 2018, 17 states had not allowed for expanded Medicaid, creating a huge coverage gap. This means that about 2.2 million people are uninsured nationally. This is because they are too poor to qualify for tax credits and are not eligible for Medicaid because of their state’s decision to knowingly exclude a range of citizens from having any health care at all.
Citizens of New York also benefit because they can buy essential services that are not considered essential in other states, like adult dental and vision care.
