My HealtheVet is an online service that is provided by the United States Department of Veterans affairs that gives the veterans, active duty service members and their families an opportunity to make informed decisions concerning their health care. About Veterans Health Administration
The Veterans health Administration (VHA) is a component of the Department of Veterans Affairs. This is a department that was founded back in the year 1778 with the sole mandate of providing and implementing the medical assistance program.
The program was geared to provide the veterans and the active duty service members together with their families’ quality medical care. After the formation of thisdepartment many federal agencies were started to provide the medical care to the veterans.

The first ever federal agency to be started was the Naval Home which is based in Philadelphia in 1812. In 1853, another agency, the Soldiers home was created to provide the medical care to the veterans. In 1855 there was another agency that was set up, the Elizabeth’s hospital.
In the years that followed, there was an increase in the number of soldiers that were injured as a result of the civil wars. It was due to this that the Congress decided to create another home to cater for the injured and disabled soldiers.
So in 1865 the National Home for the Disabled soldiers was created. The VHA saw great improvements in the years that followed.
In the mid-1990s the department went through a major transformation that saw the elimination of the underutilized inpatient beds and facilities and the expanding of the Outpatients clinics. Another great improvement that was done was the restructuring of the eligibility rules.

- Enter in your name, social security number, date of birth, relation to veterans association, gender, marital status, address, preferred user Id and password with reminder questions.
- Once this is done your information will be reviewed and you will be contacted with your login details if approved.
eBenefits is an initiative of the US government to provide convenient access to benefit payments to veterans. For veterans themselves, there are different levels of accounts where they can apply for online benefits payment as well as access their payment history, apply for home loan certificate of eligibility, check on their pension and compensation status and more. For those who are service members, they can access their service member civilian employment information, personal information, insurance, education benefits and other information. For the family members it is possible to create a basic account to access the eBenefits program. They can even make use of the learning opportunities provided and request information from the state offices.
This portal has been created for the veterans, service members or their family members. The eBenefits program offers a central platform for such individuals who can gain access to research, benefits and seek information. The eBenefits offers a personalized workspace. It is called My Dashboard, which offers quick access to the different tools provided here. You will be able to complete different tasks using such tools. You will be able to view your benefits status as well as download DD214 form. There are three levels of accounts available here. For the family members there is provision to create a basic account, while the other account types are anonymous and premium accounts. The eBenefits program was created by the President’s Commission on Care for America’s Returning Wounded Warriors. The commission proposed the creation of the portal to allow the service members, veterans and their family members a central access point to gain benefits information and other facilities.
You need to go to www.ebenefits.va.gov and click the login link in the top right or go direct to the login page here. You then need to enter you in DS username and DS password. If you don’t have either click the relevant reminder links or follow the registration process outlined below.
In order enrol for a new account go to www.ebenefits.va.gov where you will find the link to register for an account at the top right hand corner of the main page. This link will lead to an eBenefits DS Logon Account Registration Wizard which you need to complete.
You need to have a Common Access Card, an active DOD ID card or have a Defence Finance and Accounting Service myPay account in order to create an account. Depending on which option you choose you will be given the option of choosing a Basic or Premium account. You need to verify your identity in person or through remote proofing options in order to obtain a Premium Account.
